Sand lizard
Lacerta agilis
- is largely restricted to sunny meadows, glades,
gravel lands and dry, grassy forests - the female is grey-brown, the male is green with
a brown dorsal stripe - feeds on insects, spiders, earthworms, butterflies
and snakes, cannibalism occurs also - it is oviparous, the female lays about 4 – 14 eggs
- sand lizards can reach up to 20 cm (exceptionally
25 cm – males), half the length of its body
makes its tale - when feels threatened, the sand lizard to confuse predators, drops its tail that after a certain time recovers again
