Deaf adder
Anguis fragilis
- legless lizard reminding by its appearance a snake
- its length is about 50 cm, half the length of its body makes its tale
- its colour is red-brown or grey-brown often with red-brown stripes along the spine, its irides are yellow-red
- lives in meadows, fields, woodlands, preferring mild humid regions as parks, riparian forests
- it feeds on earthworms, snakes, but also insects and their larvae, occasionally cannibalism occurs also
- the deaf adder is ovoviviparous, which is between
the oviparous and viviparous way of reproduction,
it has usually 3 – 25 young
