Black stork
Ciconia nigra
- in our regions we consider it the „black brother“ of
the known white stork - it lives recluse in our woodlands far from
people - it builds its nests on stronger branches of trees
- it can fly for food often several kilometres
- its diet consists of earthworms, snakes, frogs, field voles and fish
- the hatched young are covered in down feathers,
they have yellow beak and legs - the reason for leaving its nest is often the presence
of people in the time of nesting - the other life cycles and migration to wintering
place is similar to the white stork
